I'm finding it hard to keep up

Me in our beloved St. Andrews-by-the-Sea May 19, 2017

You may have noticed my absence (or maybe not) but I'm finding it harder to keep up with posting on my blog the past while and just as hard to visit yours.  I have been blogging since August 2008 and maybe it's time to put it to rest.  I still enjoy reading your posts from time to time and a few of you have gone to Instagram so I 'see' you there.

I still take way too many pictures but to find the time to edit, post and write overwhelms me and I'm just tired.  In fact, my intent was to post some recent photos today but I decided not to.

At this point in time I just can't to seem to keep it up so will take a blog break.  I post almost daily on Instagram but my account is private so if you'd like to follow me there please send a request.

I hope to come back later....maybe after the summer is over.  I've enjoyed blogging so much and meeting so many wonderful people, some who have become long distance friends and some whom I have met in person.  You are like old fashioned pen pals.  I will miss you.

Is this goodbye forever?  I don't know. But this just might be freeing.

I wish you all a happy and safe summer.  May God bless you and keep you in His care.

Do you know how hard it is to hit the 'publish' button on this post???  I hope to come back.

Bye for now.

  1. Take care, Pam. You needn't respond to this, just enjoy the other things life has to offer. Post when, and if, you like.

    Wishing you all the best,

  2. Maybe I'll copy and paste to my blog...😏 Have a blessed and happy summer, Pam. I am just selfish enough to hope that you will change your mind...it is a woman's preogative after all. 🌿

  3. I so feel your sentiments and have often wondered if it's time to stop blogging... I'll see you on Instagram!

  4. I love the pictures you used to illustrate this post --especially the last one. The way your hand is on your neck makes it seem like you've been thinking hard on this decision. I'm sure it wasn't an easy one. Enjoy the freedom. We all probably need to unplug more and you've set a good example. Have a wonderful summer!

  5. Pam, I can understand your decision at this time as both blogging and Instagram, (not to mention 'life'), can be challenging to juggle! I'll miss your posts and especially your visits to pretty St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, but I will see you on Instagram.

Wishing you a fun-filled and happy summer!

  6. Hi Pam, I can relate to this post very well. I've not been able to comment as much as I'd like and I feel bad about that. And I don't even have Instagram or FaceBook or any other social media to occupy my time, but life gets so busy especially this time of year.

Enjoy your blog break and have a wonderful summer!
    xx Cheryl

  7. We all need a break at times. Even if you don't blog again, it's not the end of things. For me, posting only one or two photos at a time makes it seem less like work and forces me to choose my best. I hope you'll come back after your break, but if not, do what's best for you. I'll see you on IG.

  8. I'm feeling the same way Pam, and tried omce a week posting but even that is changing. I'm glad I joined Instagram as it is a greay way to do a quick share and stay in touch with all my blogland friends.

  9. Oh my yes, I have been at this door a few times. More lately . . .
I will miss you, and your exceptional photography.
A summer break sounds like a perfect way to make a final decision.
I frequent IG occasionally . . . I would enjoy following you there.
I think "freeing ones self" in summer time sounds like a grand idea.
Thank you for your friendship Pamela . . .
May God Bless you, your family, your summer days . . .

  10. Entirely understandable. Have a good summer.

  11. I can relate to this Pamela! I've so enjoyed your photos, but see them more often on FB as I haven't had the time to visit blogs much anymore. I do miss everyone now that I've quit. As you said, it's like having pen pals. Have a fabulous summer!

  12. Oh Pam.....your choice of photos made me tear up...
I was one of the lucky ones who got to meet you in person...
I love your photography...and your home decorating....
I kinda feel the same way about the blog....how did I used to post everyday?
I am with you on IG...see you there my friend...
This is not goodbye...enjoy your Summer....
    Linda 💕

  13. OH Pam, I will miss you. I do understand, I'm posting less often too, as life seems to get busier all the time. I hope you have a great summer ( let's hope we GET some summer!) and I do hope you'll come back to blogging after a good break... If not, guess I'll have to learn about IG...

  14. Have a wonderful summer, and I do hope you return, even occasionally in the fall. I have really enjoyed having a New Brunswick perspective among the blogs I read. Take care.

  15. I do know how hard it was to push the publish button, for I've considered it myself. And I do hope this frees you up to have a healthier, more relaxed summer. God bless you. I hope to see you in blogland in the fall, but certainly on Instagram.

  16. I have that kind of sinking sad feeling deep down when I read this. I know it is very freeing to take some time off but maybe at the end of summer, you'll feel like coming back. I may need to write and tell you that school is starting...time to blog! But I sure will miss you. I know everyone seems to be blogging less and that has been fine with me. I have a terrible time keeping up. But you're such a special blog friend to me. Well...I better stop there. I don't want you to feel bad. ENJOY the summer and take lots of pics! And visit when you can. Sweet BFF hugs, Diane

  17. I just can't imagine you gone from blogland dear, sweet Pamela - but I do understand how time consuming blogging is on a regular basis. I recall in days gone by how I actually used to 'have time my hands' - remember that saying? Now I never have enough time to do even the chores let alone just sit quietly during the day and relax with a book, or work a post. . . . . . . or just daydream or do nothing for a while. Life is much too complicated now - it's either doctor appointments (and my health issues seem to have multiplied lately requiring far too many of those!) , shopping for something or other, traveling here, there and everywhere, keeping up with kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, old friends, new friends (I meet many on trips and they want to keep in touch, which is nice but a lot of work). I have been lax with commenting too - I read blogs and say I'll come back with a comment later and before I know it another week has gone by in a flash and I can never catch up, grrrrrr!!!!!

This summer, with some time here at home, I plan to get really going and sorting through my 'stuff' and downsizing - so many closets, drawers etc. need to be gone through and things donated. I also want to spend more time just enjoying the garden - not having to work in it constantly - so we may have to hire help at this point. Bob won't move to a condo and I have agreed to stay here but only with some garden help!
I will miss hearing about your lovely family and viewing your always beautiful photos of your Canadian landscapes, but I will try to be happy for you having more time to do other things which will bring you happiness and joy. Hopefully you will not become a total stranger - maybe you can post a little catch up now and then (I'll be looking) and let us know you are well and happy.
I don't do IG or FaceBook - but I will try to keep going with the blog - I must have a creative outlet of some kind!
Will keep you close in thought my dear Pamela - my best always and if we do get up your way some day I'll definitely get in touch!
    Blessings to you all.
Hugs and have a lovely summer.
    Mary X

  18. Wishing you all the best, Pamela.

  19. I know whereof you speak! I began blogging in 2007, and several years ago I went with the 'monthly re-cap' format, so that I would still have a record of 'life as it happens' but not spend as much time blogging. Besides the monthly posts, I always blog our travels, since I want them documented. That has been working for me. I was reluctant to give up blogging totally, since I have so many wonderful bloggy friends that I would hate to lose contact with. Have a wonderful summer, Pam! If I don't see you back here in fall, I'll keep tabs on you via Instagram or FB. :)

  20. Will miss reading about your adventures, but as someone new to blogging, I understand how time consuming it can be. Never say never...because you never know. ;)

  21. You will be missed, Pam! I'm sad to read this, as it seems that many bloggers are leaving blogging, for a time or permanently. Life calls and we all have different rhythms that need attention in our days.
I am on IG, but not very fond of it, although I think I'll post once in awhile, and look at others' photos. However, I'm more fond of words and they are lacking on IG.
Enjoy the freedom of not blogging. I know that I've struggled to keep up lately, and have decided that it will just happen when I have the time and inclination.
    God bless you.

  22. Aha, I see many bloggers nodding their head in agreement about blogging being a chore at times. I've been tossing the same thoughts around ever since I gave up Mosaic Monday and I started blogging 2 months before you. :-) My only predicament is that I pay for a .com address for my blog from when I was writing and teaching gardening and if I give that up I'm not sure if all my posts just go back to blogspot.ca or disappear.
I enjoy the ease of IG and there are bloggers I rarely visit any more because we're friends there and/or on FB.
A good friend who doesn't blog any more said she doesn't miss it, keeps in touch with the friends she made through FB...

  24. Oh, Pam.. I am sorry to see you go.. I do know we are slowing down and things take more time.. I love blogging and connecting and have found by dropping back to one or two posts a week then I am fine.. I think for me blogging is not just a way to communicate but it is a motivator and keeps me creative and ever finding and doing stuff for my blog.. Terry is a big part of it and is always willing to stop and pick flowers or sit back while I take a pic of his hot supper.. lol.. I hope you just take a wee break and then come back.. I do not comment on a lot of blogs anymore and hope everyone understands and is happy with a comment here and there.. So loved meeting you again that day and will stay in touch.. God bless and thanks for such a wonderful blog.... xoxoxo

  25. Hello Pam, I too understand your decision and wish you a very happy and relaxing summer.
I'm not on Instagram so I keep controlling my sidebar to see if there will be a new post by you! :)
    Hugs and blessings!

  26. I hear you. You know that I've been gone forever. I'm just now trying to come back to it. Giving yourself time is always a good thing. Good luck and God bless!

  27. Aw! Pam! Sorry to hear this, but I can certainly understand. Blogging does take time....and summer is so fleeting. I will miss your fabulous photos, though. Keep in touch and visit sometimes. Hugs and Best Wishes xx Karen

  28. Hi Pamela,
I hope you enjoy a wonderful summer and I understand the time element for blogging.
Thank you for sharing all you did in the past and thank you as well for all your lovely visits.

  29. Best wishes for a happy summer...take care!
    Love from Titti

  30. Enjoy the summer dear Pamela,
Rest and relax, enjoy family, then come back to your blog because we will miss you and your beautiful photography.

  31. Nice Post & Good article.
I like to read this post because I met so many new facts about it actually.

  32. Enjoy your summer, Pam. I too have found it difficult to keep up because of all the health issues and surgeries I've had the last few months. My last operation was last Friday and I have decided to rest up a bit. To be honest, I have also contemplated retiring from blogging for a while. Maybe after I have a break, I will be refreshed and anxious to pick up where I left off. I do enjoy it when I'm feeling well and it does stretch me a bit. Anyway, I have loved your photographs of NB and I have enjoyed getting to know you a little bit as well. Take care and the Lord bless you and your family.

    Hugs from the Island,

  33. I've been terribly busy myself Pam, and I completely understand your need to let go of blogging for a while... and you will be very much missed! I always enjoy your trips in NB and your thoughtful insight into life. I do hope you will return refreshed and renewed after a relaxing summer! It has been very busy here this year, trying to get my garden into shape, and finally I am able to take a bit of a breather. It is 91 degrees outside today, so I'm staying inside this afternoon, and taking a bit of a chance to catch up on blog reading. I will miss you, and will keep you in my prayers, much love and hugs to you!

  34. Pam, I'll miss you, but I understand. I hope some day you will return. Thinking of you fondly and sending a hug and prayers. :-)

  35. Well, even though I already knew what this post was about, I felt a tinge of sadness. I did love the photos you included...I think seeing the one with your back turned tugged on my heart a bit. I do understand...2008 was a long time ago! I like the idea of the monthly updates :D Enjoy your summer! HUGS!
